And we’ll become silhouettes when our bodies finally go

I’ve been meaning to write (this time I swear), but I’ve been in such a weird place/mental funk, that I’ve been trying to avoid the blog altogether. I know that doesn’t really help me or the blog at all, but fortunately my schedule has been equally insane, so I haven’t had as much time to dwell in my murky mood, at least not on the internets. You don’t complete my VHS collection

Sometime in the late winter/early spring, D and I went to Tunes in Marlton and stumbled upon an impressive collection of Jerry Maguire VHS in their used tape section. I brought Donnie over to laugh about it when he informed me about a website whose mission is to collect all these random, unwanted Jerrys, along with other strange VHS fodder. I thought it was funny and interesting and then I completely forgot all about it. (more…)

closure

For those following my blog, the two missing in the Delaware River were recovered, though not alive. Although I wish they could have met a kinder fate, I hope that their families can find some peace by having their bodies returned to them.

The restlessness I was feeling about this incident has subsided since the two were found. It was not the most ideal end to this tragedy, but I am glad that the families and friends can grieve with a sense of closure. And, to be self-centered, I am thankful that I won’t have to pass by the water and feel the unresolved sadness I felt the days before the two were found. Life is now allowed to go on, although it will not be that easy for some… (more…)

hanging on the coattails of relevancy

Donnie’s early birthday gift (a Wii system) has provided hours of entertainment for him and me. While I slipped into a 2-week long obsession with Super Mario Bros. 3, D loaded up the “play now” queue on Netflix and went to town watching everything he ever wanted and didn’t really want to watch. Swimming in it.

Dear God, I’m swimming in the busy right now… I hate to neglect this one outlet for writing that I’m trying to keep up with, but I’m currently in the middle of daily production hell. Basically, for any of you who have ever attended a conference that offered a handy little paper to let you know what happened each day, you can now know that booklet is the product of hours and hours of session attending, quote grabbing, weeks of pre-writing, incessant editing, and lots and lots of alcohol. cop out.

OK,  so this is a bit of a cop out, but until I have the time/energy to post anything proper about our trip, my tweets about it will have to do. There’s not a lot once we left San Antone/Austin, but at least it’s something. I am so run down and exhausted after this week, I don’t even know what to do with myself. And of course the first time I actually am the one wanting to turn on the TV and watch something, the damn thing breaks (or at least doesn’t work for me…) Maybe we’ll be getting an upgrade on the boob tube after all…

Keep in mind that in order to read these in order, you have to start at the bottom and work your way up. Don’t blame me; blame Twitter. (more…)

Things to look forward to…

Well, Jon Stewart is already crossed off the list, but that was just the beginning of the excitement to come. It feels like now that spring is  springing, our social calendar is budding too. Here are the events currently on our calendar I can’t wait for: (more…)

love? yes.

I will post more about my weekend soon(ish?), but I just wanted to be sure that, in case there were any questions, tonight was freakin’ awesome. Special thanks to Mrs. P, Jill, & Tim for allowing me to tag alone tonight. I laughed… I cried…I helped kill 2 bottles of wine. I also busted a considerable about of beads all of my friends, fellow patrons of the comedy show, and even managed to get beads in my shirt, pants, and underwear. Did I mention I helped kill 2 bottles of wine…?

I will more fully update on this and the other wonderful adventures of the weekend before next weekend comes. Until then…

I Can Haz World Cup Game

OK, so as most of you reading this know, I have 2 tickets to the Cape Town South Africa match on June 11th. This was awesome, until we realize how jacked up airfare is to South Africa (more jacked up than we even expected…).

Not wanting to go into total debt, we begrudgingly called off the trip… I feel bittersweet about this, but I know it’s for the best. (I’m all for “living in the moment” but how can I really justify a trip that essentially would translate into $325 a day? Maybe if I had $325 to blow daily…)

Fortunately for me, soccer is invading the states, specifically the state next door to my state.

I’m already pumped for The Philadelphia Union’s first season (Donnie just got me their jersey for V-day!!), but the soccer news just keeps getting better and better…

My coworker alerted me to this today!!!

So, alright, it definitely would have been awesome to cross continents and watch the World Cup teams battle it out in S. Africa, but I know have the chance to watch the US team in their final match before the World Cup and only have to cross the bridge?? I think our bank account can handle that!!!!!
